DECEMBER 10

The Gift of a Living Legacy

We will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
…so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
— Psalm 78:4,6 NIV /
ASLV

Deaf children born today in the United States are the first generation to have access to a full sign language Bible from day one. We are grateful to Deaf Missions for working over the course of 39 years with partners to see the American Sign Language Version (ASLV) completed in 2020.

The legacy of this work will live on for generations to come!

Scripture creates a living legacy in every language. In this video story, you can see a member of the Ghanaian Sign Language community share the importance of Scripture access for this generation of children and beyond! What a gift to celebrate progress as we continue to the work of translation, verse by verse.

Celebrate

There are 78 active sign language Bible translation projects happening around the world. This work involves more than 45 organizations, including Deaf Bible Society.

Pray

  • For today’s generation of Deaf children born around the world, that they would come to know God through Scripture in their sign language
  • For our partners: Deaf Missions, YouVersion, Latvia Sign Language Team, Argentine Sign Language Team, Rwanda Sign Language Team, Georgia Sign Language Team, Dominican Republic of Congo Sign Language Team, Burundi Sign Language Team, and the Peru Sign Language Team.
