DECEMBER 11

The Gift of Welcoming Jesus

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” —Luke 2:11–12 NIV / ASLV

How did you learn your ABCs? If you are hearing, you may have learned the alphabet in a song. If you are Deaf, you may have learned the alphabet with a story.

Deaf cultures love storytelling. In American Deaf culture, ABC stories blend letter signs into the narrative. That makes the Christmas Story in ABC below extra special. If you know the American Sign Language alphabet, watch carefully, and you will see!

Celebrate

Let’s welcome Jesus! May the story of His coming remind us of God’s great love for all people and inspire us to remain faithful in sharing sign language Scripture.

Pray

  • For Deaf friends who encounter the story of Christmas, that they would welcome and choose to follow Jesus
  • For our partners: Deaf Kids Connect, FOBAI (Forum of Bible Agency International), and the Tanzania Sign Language Team.
