What is it like when you experience love or kindness from another person? And what about joy? Or peace?

You want these good things in your relationships, don’t you? I sure do! We want to experience them — and it is wonderful to share them with others. The Bible calls these things the “fruit of the Spirit” because they are produced by the Holy Spirit.

Let’s look at Galatians 5:22–23:

When you recognize Jesus as your savior, God fills you with the Holy Spirit. You have the Holy Spirit to guide you in service to others.

Think about it like this: You know that an apple tree produces apples. In the same way, the Holy Spirit produces spiritual fruit of virtue in your life. Like a tree, you grow strong. Your branches reach out to share the fruit of the Spirit with those around you.

I know for me personally, sometimes I don’t appreciate the fruit of the Spirit in my life. I get too busy or tired or distracted.

So, during this prayer series, let’s invite the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to the fruit of the Spirit. Where is the fruit growing in our lives? Let’s pause to notice… to be thankful… and to share.
