Deaf Bible Society recently had the joy of being selected as the Global Impact Partner for Priscilla Shirer’s Going Beyond event, an opportunity to share the need for sign language Scripture with thousands of women.
During the event, Priscilla highlighted the work of Deaf Bible Society, welcomed members of our team for a conversation, and invited participants to help fund the Ghanaian Sign Language New Testament project. We are grateful for the generosity that has followed and for the partnership that made this moment possible.
A shared heart for God’s Word
At Going Beyond in Daytona Beach, Florida, Priscilla Shirer invited women to come alongside Deaf Bible Society in an important mission: supporting Deaf-led efforts to make the Bible available in Ghanaian Sign Language.
The event featured a special segment highlighting Deaf Bible Society’s mission, including Priscilla’s endorsement of the mission and a conversation with CEO Chantel Pagán and Deaf team members Carly and Min Min.
Together, they shared the heart behind sign language Bible translation and the opportunity to support Deaf believers in Ghana as they work toward greater Scripture access.
Advancing Scripture Access in Ghanaian Sign Language
More than 150,000 Deaf people in Ghana stand to benefit from greater access to Scripture in Ghanaian Sign Language. As Deaf-led translation teams complete and approve new passages, they become freely available through the Deaf Bible app.
Through the Going Beyond partnership, Priscilla invited women to help fund the remaining New Testament translation work. We are celebrating the generosity of everyone who responded. Every gift supports Deaf translators and brings more Scripture to the communities they serve.
Grateful for a beautiful partnership
We are deeply thankful to Priscilla Shirer, the Going Beyond team, Lifeway Women, and everyone who helped make this partnership possible. It is a gift to see the Church come together around a shared desire for every person to have access to Scripture.
And the invitation continues. You can join us in praying for the Ghanaian Sign Language translation team, sharing this story with others, and giving toward the completion of this important project.
Together, we are working toward a future where every Deaf person has free and unlimited access to the hope of the gospel in their sign language.
