Victoria, a Deaf leader in Cyprus, did not expect to be asked this question.
A young Deaf woman approached her and asked, “When will the full Bible be finished?” Then she continued. “Why is Mark 1–5 taking so long? We want more access to Scripture. I would love to see more stories from the Bible.”
After generations without Scripture in sign language, this young woman was asking for more. She wanted more of the Bible because she wanted to know Jesus more deeply.
This is what happens when Scripture becomes visible. People lean in, curiosity grows, and a hunger for God’s Word increases.
Victoria is one of the Deaf leaders serving on the ground in Cyprus. She is giving her time, gifts, and heart so her community can receive the Bible in their sign language.
Her work is part of a larger movement of Deaf leaders and translation teams around the world helping their communities access Scripture in a language they can see, understand, and share.
For many Deaf communities, even a few translated chapters can open the door to a deeper hunger for God’s Word. But the longing does not stop there. They want the whole story. They are hungry for the full counsel of Scripture made accessible in sign language.
